British Society for Oral Medicine Winter Meeting
12th November 2016, London
This years’ BSOM Winter meeting promises an exciting programme.
There will be a “Sjogren’s Syndrome” theme: patients treated on the Oral Medicine clinics often have complex problems requiring input from various specialities and we aim to reflect that in this year’s programme.
We are happy to welcome Dr Jackie Brown, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals to speak to us about imaging in salivary gland disease. Dr Genevieve Larkin, Consultant Ophthalmologist, King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals will discuss management strategies for ocular disease in Sjogren’s. Dr Lydia Rodney, Clinical Psychologist, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, will speak about psychology related to oral health and her experience with this patient cohort. Ms Pepe Shirlaw, Guy’s & St Thomas’Hospitals, will discuss recent advances in management of Sjogren’s.
Dental or Medical Undergraduates are also invited to attend this event to further their Oral Medicine knowledge and explore this fascinating specialty. You are encouraged to submit an abstract to present either completed projects or interesting cases encountered during your undergraduate training. Please do not hesitate to contact the organisers for guidance.

Abstracts and Prizes
Abstracts are invited for presentation of cases or projects that have involved collaboration with colleagues in other specialities; for example, other dental specialities, pathology, dermatology, rheumatology or ophthalmology. We encourage abstracts for which the presentation will be given jointly by juniors from different specialities, in the aim of promoting collaborations between Oral Medicine and other specialties,; however, this is not a requirement. Abstracts must be submitted on the Winter Meeting abstract form, which can be downloaded below from the BSOM website.
The “BSOM Undergraduate Oral Presentation Prize” and the “BSOM Winter Meeting Oral Presentation Prize” will be awarded to the best presenter in each category. See below for the BSOM Prize regulations.
